Chingri Kofta (Prawn Kofta) is one of the favorite delicious cuisines for Bengali people. Anybody can cook its easily just follow the given recipe.
Ingredients for Chigri Kofta:
500 gm small prawns (Chingri)
2 large Onions
4 pitches green chilies
1 table spoon coriander leaves
1 Egg
2 table spoons breadcrumbs
2 table spoons mustard oil
½ cup coconut (scraped)
2 tea spoons garam masala powder
1 tea spoon turmeric powder
Ginger: 1" piece
2 bay leaves
2 table spoons pure ghee
Salt: to taste
Method of Preparation (How to Cook):
01. At first shell, de-vein and wash the prawns. Then boil them.
02. When cooked, grind to make a smooth paste.
03. Add salt, onions, green chilies and cut coriander leaves into paste. And blend the mixer finely.
04. When the mixture is well blended, form into 12 balls, dip in beaten egg and roll in breadcrumbs.
05. Fry the balls in hot mustard oil till become brown color. When Kofta is ready keep it aside.
06. Extract milk from the coconut. And grind the big size onion, garam masala, turmeric, and ginger to a fine paste for the gravy.
07. Again heat up oil in a saucepan or pot.
08. When it smokes, fry the bay leaves and ground masala for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring all the time and mix little water to keep the spices from scorching.
09. Now gradually stir in the coconut milk extract and a little salt.
10. Mix in the koftas (balls) and allow the curry to simmer (boil slowly at low temperature) for about 10 minutes, till the gravy becomes rich and thick.
11. And add the pure ghee on top just before serving.
